Terrebonne Estates Revisited

May 20, 2026 | EDUs, Hook-Up Fees, Meetings, Uncategorized

After having reviewed the meeting notes from the Terrebonne Sanitary District’s (TSD) April 2026 meeting, we again raised the question about what is going to happen to our friends in the Terrebonne Estates area.

This is not the first time Mike Mooers has attended a meeting of the TSD and as citizens of theTerrebonne area we appreciate public participation. The question is why does Mike attend and what are his goals when it comes to TSD.

If you would like to know what Mr. Mooers intentions are, we suggest you read our blog dated Feb 25, 2025 "What is the Truth About Terrebonne Estates?" (click to read blog).

Mr. Mooers has stated “There are no plans to do that at this time(concerning joining the Sanitary district). The key words here are “..at this time”. It is quite evident that Mr. Mooers wants to shut down the existing system, have the residents hook up to the new sanitary district and then develop the land that the current system sits on.

How do we know this? Listen to Guy Vernon talk about what Mr. Mooers wants to do at that aforementioned meeting. TSD Meeting 4-26 (click for audio) (at 13:15).

Here are the takeaways from that meeting.

  1. Mr. Mooers  wants to have his system connected to TSD.
  2. Mr. Mooers wants to develop the property that the septic system now occupies.
  3. Properties now served by the Terreonne Estates system will be required to connect to TSD and PAY SDC FEES THAT COULD BE OVER $8,000!

There is a cost to any system such as the one being proposed by TSD. Our concern is that most new customers do not understand that they have to pay these SDC fees. EVERYONE has to pay to join the system. It is not just a matter of “hooking up”.
