Why Does the Terrebonne Sanitary District Not Want to Answer Questions?

Jan 16, 2025 | Meetings, Public Comments

On December 23rd we sent this short note to the Terrebonne Sanitary District concerning questions being asked of them by the public.

To: Terrebonne Sanitary District
Let us first say we were pleased to attend your monthly meeting on Thursday. After having reviewed the proceedings we do have one concern:

The person from the public that spoke noted that neither the Board nor the district was answering his questions. We understand questions can not always be answered during a meeting.

That being said, will you answer questions from the public?

Thank you for your time.

We have now waited three weeks and still we have no answers or comments from the board or the district. Now it could be because of who we are…an opposition, free speech blog or it could be, you know, they just do not want to.

Truth be told, if TSD does not want to engage with the public they do not have to talk to anyone. It is not a very good policy but they can do it. Now if you review their mission statement they say they want communication from the public, but their actions speak differently. They want discussions from people that agree with them but not those who oppose.

We understand that at this point the board does not have all the answers to all questions raised as they move through the early stages of the district. We do not believe they should just ignore questions. This only raises concerns about their honesty and creates distrust and resentment.

As we have stated many times here at Terrebonne Sewer District we welcome open discussion. We are not perfect, we make mistakes and we understand that people will disagree with us. But we promise to be open and never ignore questions and concerns from our readers. Do you think the sanitary district feels that way?
